For beginners

Where to start if you have never done yoga

September 2026

The most common question before a first class goes like this: “Will I be able to manage?” The short answer: yes, you will. Yoga does not require flexibility or athletic fitness at the start; it is precisely about developing them gradually.

Choose by pace, not by difficulty. If in doubt, start with a gentler, slower practice; it is easier to listen to your body and find out what resonates with you.

Arrive a little early. An extra 5–10 minutes before your first class lets you change calmly, unroll your mat and start practice without rushing.

Tell the instructor you are a beginner. There is nothing embarrassing about it and it doesn’t single you out, on the contrary, the teacher will suggest simpler variations of the poses where needed.

And most important: your first class doesn’t have to be perfect. It is simply the first; it only gets easier from here.
